The short answer? A lot. Longer answer? Way, way, way a lot. We be busy, but we be cool.

Progress on PK:TGWTF is coming along nicely, there are some issues that we’re trying to work through in order to keep production going on this. I’m taking my time with this, treading carefully. I don’t want to get burnt out on it like I have past projects, especially since this is my brainchild. My own little opus. While I try to make everything I do the best that it can be, I especially want people to be able to look at this and say “That was the most awesome thing he’s ever done.”

Tapestry of Time is not dead! This includes the first chapter ETS. I continue to work on the story and the characters, we’re just at a crossroads right now. I’m trying to decide how I want to go about making the game. Neverwinter Nights is great, but it’s just become too limiting for what I want to try to accomplish. I’m looking at two different options, and I’ll make an announcement on what I decide.

Finally, we’re adding two more volunteer positions, 3D modellers, riggers, and texturers. Check the volunteer page for more information.

Busy day today! We’ve made some changes to the site and opened up a new store. And that’s just a couple of ticks off the list of stuff we have planned. So, what’s new?

First, you may have noticed a new item in the sidebar entitled “What We’re Doing”. That’s just a little Twitter feed I’ve set up and am maintaining via Twitteroo. That way, I can quickly and easily update current events. With that up there, I now have it scheduled to update site news every other week regularly.

Second, we’ve added information for a new project on our Projects page under a working title. Take a gander at that and keep an eye out as we fill in more details over the coming weeks.

Finally, the news that we’re really excited about, is that we have a new store brimming with Catch 22 Designs merchandise. It’s pretty basic to start with, but I’ll be adding different designs gradually. The plan is to have an individual store for each project, since basic stores at cafepress can only have one of each item on it at a time, and then once one of the stores makes enough to support a better store, move everything into that store, and make it integrate better into the site. But seriously, check it out. Buy stuff. Help me pay my bills so that I can keep working on things I want to work on.

Back burnerHey everybody!

So, you’re probably wondering what the deal is with Ex Tempus, Scientia. Why hasn’t there been any news at all in months? Is the project dead? What about all the hard work that’s been put into it already? Well, there’s a very simple answer to those questions:

I haven’t been working on it. *gasp!*

But wait, I have reasons! I’m trying to make it better! Over the course of doing what development I have, I realized that the Aurora Toolset, while extremely useful, is also very limiting. It’s been great for pre-visualizing characters, setting up dialog, and learning more about the game designs process in general. But the more I use it, the more I realize that the very same engine that’s teaching me so much is limiting me as well. There are specific visuals I get when I wrote the story and the dialogue and even new ones when refining that for implementation into ETS that I can’t seem to nail with this engine.

On top of that, I see all the hard work others have put into this so far going to waste because a six year-old engine is just not sophisticated enough to do justice to what others have put in. It upsets me to think that we’re not getting out of this project what we’re putting in. So I’ve got plans, big plans.

So… check it out. New site is (sorta) up and running. I decided I was trying to hard to do something I just couldn’t, said “Bah!” and put this up here instead. It’s simple, it’s easy to maintain, and if I want to do something else later I can take the whole thing down in a few clicks.

So, at least for now, this is the interweb home of Catch 22 Designs. I like it, it works for me. That’s not to say I’m going to stop anyone if they go “Hey, I’ve got your site right here.” But I just don’t have time to design, build, and maintain an huge elaborate site when a simple one works just as well.

Expect this to evolve as I get all the separate pages up and running. Feel free to make suggestions, either here or on our forums.

Thanks to everybody!
